Main Street’s mission is to create economic opportunity by empowering entrepreneurs. Through innovative partnerships they provide small business owners with capital, education, and relationships that allow them to flourish. This collaborative approach helps borrowers create jobs and stimulates economic development in low-to-moderate income communities.

Main Street is a one of the country's largest Community Development Financial Institutions focused on small business loans. Main Street has loan products ranging from $25,000 to $250,000 for businesses located within the 9 Bay Area counties. In addition to lending, Main Street provides comprehensive support to entrepreneurs including one-on-one advising, peer-support networks, workshops, post-loan education, and networking events.

Over the last 10 years, Main Street has originated loans totaling $30,000,000. These businesses have created thousands of jobs and have helped revitalize many low-income bay area neighborhoods. 58% of Main Street's loans are made to women-owned businesses, and 60% were made to minority owned businesses. A majority of these businesses were start up enterprises. In March, 2014, Main Street will be launching a major lending and support initiative for veteran owned enterprises.
