Past Work

There is a body of research that proves that where women successfully participate in executive roles in startups, we see a direct benefit to the business bottom line, to innovation, to the economy, and to society. Supporting Astia’s mission and work ensures that The Althea Foundation makes a direct impact to underserved women entrepreneurs, high-growth entrepreneurship and beyond.
— Alexsis de Raadt St. James, Founder & Chairman, The Althea Foundation

Astia is a curated, global community of experts committed to the success of women-led, high-growth startups in areas such as healthcare, finance and information technology. The non-profit organization has a distinct focus and mission: to propel women's participation as entrepreneurs and leaders in high-growth businesses, fueling innovation and driving economic change. For over 14 years, the 5000+ members of Astia have provided startups with the capital, business networks, and mentorship needed to become dominant market players. Through a proprietary and proven process program, Astia Advisors are matched with startups to provide the strategic guidance and expertise needed for success. Driven by a proven philosophy that gender diversity is an essential element of innovation, over 60% of Astia's clients achieve funding or an exit within one year of joining the organization.

The Althea Foundation began donating to Astia in 2004, directly supporting the organization's work with women-led companies in Europe. The Althea Foundation believes that expanding Astia's work abroad allows for women to benefit from a more global and diverse community of entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders.
