IBLF was set up in 1990 by His Royal
Highness The Prince of Wales and a group of chief executives
of international companies, in response to the emerging challenges
of economic growth and change in the global economy.
Working with business, governments and civil society, the IBLF
has operated in over 90 countries to enhance the contribution
that companies can make to sustainable development. Among
it’s many pioneering achievements, the IBLF has played
a leading role in the greening of tourism, rural and slum development,
opening access to technology and pioneering youth enterprise.
In 2007 Althea financed a campaign for IBLF to raise $25 million
in the form of an Endowment Fund. The fund has been dedicated
to the vision held by the late CEO of IBLF, Robert Davies. For
seventeen years Robert led IBLF under the guidance of The Prince
of Wales, and dedicated himself to encouraging business leaders
to work as partners with global communities that suffer from
neglect and exclusion. This Endowment Fund will support and
build on the many projects he created that have provided solutions
in areas such as health, corruption, security and human rights.
